the salt grows heavy (medieval horror short stories) master and margarita (russian ‘comedy’ about demons and hell) and maybe i’ll finally finish weaveworld (fantastical and strange, with a lot of body horror and ghosts)
and it’s just as good as they say. incredibly resonant dystopian horror. i’d also recommend The Salt Grows Heavy for a quick read. medieval fantasy body horror but there is also a sweet sort of love story
Short-form weird, my favorite kind, blending sc-fi, dark fantasy, horror, and Kafka. Evenson’s stories are a treat, I start each with a twinge of dread, not knowing if it’ll be one of the nastier ones or funnier ones or more poignant ones, sometimes it’s all three Good for fans of Barker and Ligotti
i loved loved lovedd "the candy house" by jennifer egan
"several people are typing" by calvin kasulke
i always rec "out" by natsuo kirino for horror/crime and "earthlings" by sayaka murata if u want to get seriously grossed out
