and it’s just as good as they say. incredibly resonant dystopian horror.
i’d also recommend The Salt Grows Heavy for a quick read. medieval fantasy body horror but there is also a sweet sort of love story
the salt grows heavy (medieval horror short stories) master and margarita (russian ‘comedy’ about demons and hell) and maybe i’ll finally finish weaveworld (fantastical and strange, with a lot of body horror and ghosts)
i loved loved lovedd "the candy house" by jennifer egan
"several people are typing" by calvin kasulke
i always rec "out" by natsuo kirino for horror/crime and "earthlings" by sayaka murata if u want to get seriously grossed out
helpmeet by naben ruthnum is a tight little body horror-ish novella, the icarus girl by helen oyeyemi for more magical-realism type horror, i love everything by john darnielle who kind of runs the horror-adjacent gamut but universal harvester is probably the most traditionally "horror"
