Went to see this in theaters with a childhood pal, it was unbelievably bad and we both left and she said “wow I’m so excited to never see that again.“ Little did she know the horror we’d be walking back into at my apartment.
My husband and his friends were hosting a viewing party of a low quality cam-rip of Cats in our living room! I got to see it AGAIN in much worse quality (actually a lot less scary and disturbing in such a low quality) featuring iranian subtitles, the guy who was filming the screen coughing and moving, and various random hardcoded popups on screen to advertise online gambling. So yeah memoria def the best film I’ve seen in theaters, Cats the most fun/unique experience.

This weekend, after some pestering, my local cinema / arts space allowed me to screen + introduce Gremlins 2 (my favourite film of all time) due to its links to an exhibition I’ve been working on in their gallery about breaking the fourth wall.
I’ve only ever seen the film on my tv, so it was incredible to see it on the big screen — the storyline works so much better in a cinema and it looked GREAT. Gizmo is so fucking cute.
It did also feel like when you show your friend a Funny Video and get nervous about whether or not they’re enjoying it, but on steroids. Every time anyone in the audience laughed I felt so validated — looking around thinking yes… YES… this is the best film to exist, and these strangers… they are my people.
I was cackling throughout, the kind of laughter that leaves your cheeks aching afterwards. Everyone clapped during the credits and it sounds like a meme but it’s true. Sometimes being an artist is alright.

i never have money to go to movie theaters so i have a small list to take from but the substance takes the cake
the theatre was EMPTY except for my friends and i
i was baked
its a nyc theatre so there were rats scurrying around the seats so we had to put our feet up
and just absolutely ravenous body horror
and since we were alone i could squeal in surprise (or excitement) with no worries of social standards

okay so it’s maybe not the Best Movie i’ve seen in theaters but it was the best theater experience i’ve had. i went with some friends and i was completely enthralled. it felt like i couldn’t hide or turn away. there’s a moment where the question “what’s your name?” hangs in the air and i nearly answered
