The myth of Narcissus in the Greek Mythology is a warning against vanity and self-love. Sometimes we get so caught up in our being, in our ego [Latin, ‘I am’], that we lose sight of the bigger picture and, as a result, pass over the beauty and bounty that is life. Designer and artist, Najma Temsoury has always been fascinated by the creation and the interior design field. Light and the perception have a major importance in her work. «what I like is to use perception to have my objects static yet in movement». This is indeed what we see in the vase ‘Narcisse’ designed for Maison Dada. Narcisse vase brings reflection to one’s eyes. Using the optical lens lets the colors, the forms and the details of the flowers to be carefully revealed, while creating a visual movement.

I started renting the house behind my studio a couple months ago, even though the space was *wrecked* (the location tho…!) I couldn’t conceive of how I would renovate it into a beautiful home until I began to think of it as art project. Crucial to the plan was 24 year-old Nico B Young, a genius artist who had never made a cabinet in his life but was game for the challenge of completely rebuilding the kitchen from scratch. He carved these shiny, butter yellow cupboards and counters that you just want to eat. The whole thing is a perfect installation that I made crepes for my child in this morning.

Graduated from Duperré School of Applied Arts, Geraldine Gonzalez was a shoe stylist before devoting herself to sculpture. The artist evolves in a world that constantly plays with in-utility object and treasure but where, however, the functional is not absent. The light materials that send back or let the light through are honored : paper, mother-of-pearl, crystal, glitter ... bring her all the desired qualities of transparency and lightness. The encounter with the crystal, which she owes to a Baccarat order, marks a turning point in her work.   From then on, the work borrows from the baroque its fantasy and its preciousness. Each piece is unique, designed and then modeled in three dimensions by hand. His pieces capture light so well that they create a climate of weightlessness. Geraldine Gonzalez lays the groundwork on both sides of carefully defined artistic territories presenting a kinship with unclassifiable artists like Jeanine Janet or Jean Cocteau.

Beautiful little vessels of infinity! They’re one of those diaphanous objects in which you can find an endless number of micro-reflections and light refractions. I love watching how glass shimmers from sun rays reflecting against its rim and how it creates these translucent shadows on the surfaces around it. It’s like a way to own a piece of the rainbow! (plus they make awesome looking table settings)
