Learning that men tend to read more non-fiction books than fiction ones, even from adolescence is scary to me. I also leave you with this video I had already recommended before on the importance of having men read more and the type of books they could read while young (intended for ages 13-19): https://youtu.be/3lWp8d4KMto?si=VoZnWvN75XhOL1Lq

I recommend a list of books that you can gift boys ages 13 to 19. He also talks about the importance of having boys read more books in relation to the obtention of empathy, besides citing studies that suggest reading is very gendered as an activity, since boys have more reading problems than girls, and girls tend to read an increased amount for pleasure, in comparison to boys.

I want to be able to read books. Trust me, I do. It will help me get even better as a writer — to cultivate my already strong ability. But it is increasingly hard for me to finish them. I am halfway through Moby Dick, and like fifty pages through Emma Cline’s The Guest. Somehow, I can only finish The Jordan Rules, a spectacular book about Michael Jordan being a maniac and the quest for a championship by the 1990-1991 Bulls. (I highly recommend it. Sam Smith is a great sportswriter). For some reason, my brain doesn’t have enough discipline. My friend Naomi thinks “I’m just a young man figuring out art and life”, but I want to be able to read. The infamous How Long Gone podcast believes that it is thirsty to read, and I honestly don’t disagree with Mr. Black and Mr. Stewart, but it is objectively a good thing to be able to read. Kanye didn’t read, and look what happened to him. He literally got dumber and more mentally ill as the years went on. So, I recommend fake reading. At least, the ten pages a day you read will allow you to feel like you read something. Articles aren’t enough: fake read a book, and you’ll do your community service for a day.

I've been called Leah Michelle for a bit because of my inability to coherently read and focus too much of my time on consuming Computer Science content. I started maybe reading what an introspective adolescent would read such as the Secret History by donna tart and The Bell Jar. It's really opened a can of words and had me really self assess on my personal "brand". Why is it so one-dimensional? Is it really just me trying to be different and quirky? Is the continous hunger to accurately define what I am cringe because that identity is not static? I think I kind of just want to get a snapshot of what I am right here right now. omg get a room, talk to a therapist like  🙄. Sorry chat. Last week I really liked watching:  I Saw the TV Glow, The Substance, Scavenger's Reign, SnowPiercer, and Moulin Rouge Las week I really liked reading: Bell Jar, Secret History, 1, and I'm thinking of ending things. So much better than the movie.
