It’s time we found a treatment (or even a cure) for ME/CFS. M.E. (myalgic encephalomyelitis) is a post-viral condition often developed after contracting viruses like Epstein-Barr (mono), Lyme disease, and now COVID-19. My partner has been disabled by M.E. since catching COVID in May 2023. They have been unable to leave bed even to use the restroom for over a year, sensitive to light and sound, unable to do much of anything. I miss my partner and the life we had before COVID took their health from us, and I’d do anything to have them back to full health. I’ve linked one current fundraiser for M.E. research shared by Whitney Dafoe, a patient/advocate for this messed up disease. Donate if you can. More and more people are developing M.E. due to COVID, so it’s important that we find out what mechanism is behind this condition and how we can reverse it.

Always good but feeling particularly thankful for them this week!! My partner contracted covid after a recent trip, but because he masked around me and our kids constantly after getting home (as we usually do after such trips for 7 days), ate in a separate room with the door closed, and ran air purifiers—he was able to protect our whole household during the most infectious stage, which was before he was showing any symptoms but testing with a bright positive. (He developed symptoms the next day, which would have been too late to protect us if he hadn’t been masking and testing already.) It’s now day 9 since his positive and no one else is sick—still technically possible but the odds look good. šŸ¤žšŸ»šŸ¤žšŸ» There’s nothing hotter than sacrificing a little convenience to save your loved ones (or anyone) from physical suffering… plus in the case of covid, potential complications or even chronic disability. It works!!! šŸ‘šŸ»

If you enjoy being un-disabled and having your life un-ruined I highly recommend this. Reminder that the only foolproof way to avoid getting long COVID is to avoid getting COVID! Check out Long COVID Justice (linked) or The People's CDC for more info.

especially if you've had COVID and if you've recovered relatively recently, there has been plenty of cases reported where post-COVID brain fog can take 6-9 months for a full recovery. (any longer may need medical attention to address a long term course of action to tackling it!) brain fog can still stem from a number of other things such as stress, autoimmune disorders, etc., i linked an article with tips for brain fog if u think that's what it is! hope you'll be able to find the source of this and find workarounds soon! <3

I’m not a parent and do not plan to be. Kids can wear me out fast with their high energy and noise level; it leaves me very over-stimulated. But it’s pretty extreme when people say they ā€hate kidsā€ and I often feel it’s a reflection of their childhood and beliefs around how kids ā€œshould be.ā€ That they were expected to be quiet, obedient, and out of the way by their parents when they were little. It’s fucking hard to be a kid. You’re dealing with a rapidly-changing body and underdeveloped brain, managed by flawed adults who are enforcing boundaries that you do not understand. It’s confusing and hard to manage your feelings and honestly just a lot. People are impatient with kids when theyā€˜re brand new to the world and figuring it all out, and this is a time kids need a friend the most. Children can also be teachers to adults with how they are less habituated to the world. They teach us how to be free and open-hearted and silly and imaginative. A good practice is to be kinder and gentler with kids. If that feels difficult, start with gentleness toward your inner child. Maybe that’s the child in your life that needs your attention and kindness most.
