I was itching to watch this since it came out, but I wanted to read the book by Ottessa Moshfegh first. The book was pretty good, I have my critiques, Iāll save them for now. The movie failed to capture the same level of disturbed that Eileen or Rebecca were in the book. They also changed the way Rebeccaās character looked in the movie for some reason? They actually changed quite a bit when it came to characterization of all of the characters, and it really was not to the movieās benefit. Not a bad movie, much much much different than the book.

I read this one a few weeks ago, but wanted to wait until I saw the movie before diving into my thoughts. Both start extremely similar, down to some exact word-for-word scenes, and the plot points are all the same, but the movie takes some creative license to show whatās going on for the main characters mentally that the book doesn't. This works in favor for both the book and movie. In the book's case you're left guessing, confused, and trying to pick apart every tiny detail til the very end. The author is continuously sneaking small details/hints past you without raising alarm, and at the end I found myself looking back to see a whole different story. This isn't to say I didn't see the twist coming, but it was done in a way that left plenty of good stuff to pick apart after youāve finished.

Sometimes the book is better.
I watched The Goldfinch movie and, honestly, it wasnāt great. I later read the book, and to this day itās one of my favourites.

Didnāt even finish reading Call Me By Your Name, but the movie was decent.
Sometimes both are great.

My point is that either way itās difficult to judge something fairly unless you have read the book and watched the film.

Obviously I know the reputation of the shining as a classic masterpiece type movie and it really is, especially after reading the book and going right into the movie it is really such an enjoyable experience to see the differences and what was added and left out and it really is such a nice thing to be able to do in general

Why not go through the process of blending those images yourself? Why not use process as an experiment? Why AI? What part are you playing? What makes it yours?
I think AI is impersonal. I think it is unethical when it has relied on the theft of actual peopleās actual physical (and because of the nature of art, often time emotional) labor. I also think it is unnecessary in creating art. I also think the environmental impacts are atrocious. I also think AIās biggest supporters are being maliciously ignorant because itās a fun new toy.
Is it ease? Is it efficiency? People talk about accessibility as if children donāt use crayons and stickers! As if graffiti artists donāt use postal labels as sticker, as if sand mandalas donāt exist, as if cardboard and tape arenāt in over abundance.

Maybe this isnāt so much a fix for staff, but I feel like the reposting of things has gotten a bit lame. I donāt want the āEveryoneā feed to be the same post 20 times with nothing added, especially when the thing being re-recād isnāt even a real reccomendation in the first place. I like this app because it is different than Instagram and Twitter and tumblr and the like. I feel like people are trying to interact similarly to those other apps here. I feel like we are all drifting back into creating the same social media AGAIN.
My vote would be to remove the feature entirely, but I see how it can be used thoughtfully
