This week was horribly inconsistent in terms of weather, but spring is certainly fighting to warm things up. Even winter’s vestiges can’t help but display the promise of warmth and new life. The way the ice is melting and cracking in waves doesn’t hurt the eyes either. Despite the lack of greenery, there can still be growth.

even though it’s still February, I can already feel spring trying to break through the layers of cold the sun is starting rise a little earlier, and mornings don’t feel as harsh. I can hear birds other than crows now—small signs that something is changing in the afternoon, sunlight floods the classroom, and outside, kids are playing again. they shriek in excitement while playing tag or hide&seek at night, the clear skies give a great view of the stars above us, reminding me how everything may seem fragile and ever changing, but paradoxically, impermanence ensures the unique charm of the moment so I wait—patiently—for the warmth, for the bloom, for the moment when winter finally loosens its grip, and the world can take a deep breath once again

there is this strange lull between the end of winter and early spring (though, technically it is late winter) that i've never truly noticed before. the weather is getting warmer (the temperature was just perfect today, mid 60s), but everything is dead. i had a wonderful day mulling about the town, enjoying the first truly nice day of the year. but everything is still asleep, the trees, the grass, the animals. i know there is so much more to come, good and bad. i suppose what i mean to say is, bare trees are still trees, though we anticipate their growth, let's love their lack of it all the same.

They have such a light but powerful scent. Instantly sends me on a nostalgia trip to my old elementary school where we used to have one right next to the softball diamond. It was always the meeting place for my close friend and I over recess when we‘d meet to discuss the novel we cowrote (Novel being generous). To me, they are creativity and first crushes incarnate.

In place of “I’m gonna kill myself“ when frustrated. It’s a really small change and you probably won’t even notice the difference, but it’s a really easy way to start reframing bad self talk and it’s helped me feel better about myself overall.

Stingless bees native to Australia with fascinating spiral shaped hives! Spirals and honeycomb are two of my favorite things, and these little guys found a way to merge them together :]
