I’m planning to do the same. Make flyers for it, post them online and irl, make it a party, do it at an air bnb, apartment, abandoned warehouse, wherever. Then you can make the vibe whatever you want, pick the music, make food, whatever you think fits your art. Can do some networking there, who knows who’ll show up ! If you document it, I’m sure more established institutions will be impressed at you putting on your own show if you decide to apply for your next collection of work. At the very least, you can throw a fun party with your art on the walls !

i appreciate this idea for the future! unfortunately at the moment that may actually be even less financially feasible for me to find a space like that tho. i rely on public transit (can’t drive) and still live at home in a suburban area :,( i also don’t have many friends in the area with their own places who would be down for it…but now i’m really itching to do this someday genuinely!! i promise im not trying to be a debby downer and am mega appreciative bc i didn’t even know you could do this. thank you for this idea <3

@DEARDOVESWINGS yea I feel you, it def isn’t the cheapest idea. You could also apply to residencies, those are often free to apply, would be a great way to network with working artists who might have a better idea of galleries near you https://artistcommunities.org/artists/find-residency Is a good resource for finding some of those!

Get together some cool artists to put some artwork in your local venue and then dance for seven hours to music you love. I LOVE ARTS AND CULTURE

my ideal career path is to be a museum curator however it has come into my brain recently that a museum can be very capitalistic, be made for the rich.. so i host my own galleries, in homes, to bring together local art, free to submit free to visit.. it feels more personal this way

Ok stay with me here. Too much public filming. This is going to discourage good weird public activity. We need people being weird in public. Odd dancing, carrying around insane items, freaked out fits, etc. Instead of a quick vid to show your friends, or, god forbid, *get internet clout*, people should be sketching the scene and describing it in colorful language. Now you have to take accountability for your opinion on the matter, your draftsmanship and writing gets better, and the public freaks have plausible deniability in the job interview. This goes for drunk man on the street tik tok videos as well. Put on a newsboy cap and start jotting. There should be exceptions like intentional performances or heinous crimes of course. I’m open to other exceptions I just can’t think of any rn. This will never be a reality but i can try
