I’m seeing The Brutalist at my local independent theater (❤️❤️❤️the Mayfair Theater in Ottawa❤️❤️❤️❤️) and I’m all dressed and done up even though I have 35 minutes until I have to leave. I’m just so excited!!
I’m a member so I get $4 off tickets and this theater is so so so lovely and the walk is also so so so lovely. I think I’m going to hang out at the bar beside the theater after the movie!
Take yourself on a date! It gets less scary I promise.

going to see challengers on my own today! and i'm very excited. i'm someone who actually doesn't mind going to the cinema alone. i've done it so many times over the years, and totally do not get people who say it's sad. if i lived somewhere where i could go to late night screenings on my own, i would do it all the time.
sometimes i end up making a friend, sometimes i just get to sit and get sucked in and then i get to leave and choose my favorite place to eat. it's a nice way to spend a day on your own, and i think more people (especially people in their 20s) should take themselves on little dates.

Especially in a smaller, quieter theater. There’s nothing so peaceful and it makes me feel super independent and grounded. I don’t go to big names like AMC or Marcus normally anyway, but it’s essential to try out your local theaters as well! Mine is super cheap and has the recliners and heated seats- I don’t see why I’d go to any other theater!

May not sound particularly exciting, but there is something about picking a film you want to see, going by yourself, and then getting to walk home by yourself just mulling it over in your head. My favourite solo date activity!
