literally just got back from the theatre 20 minutes ago so this rec came at the perfect time. i don’t even know how to explain it but there’s a specific scene in this film that make my whole soul light on fire. you have to see in (preferably in theatres) to believe it. bonus points if you like insane soundtracks and vampires

usually not really my thing but the buzz is high im gonna check it out asap. Recommend reading the Vulture article about how Ryan Coogler roped the studio into giving him a deal where he owns all the rights to the movie (!) in 2 years which is so crazy

Just saw and defo a movie I’d watch in theaters if you can. What a beautiful ode to the African diaspora and the culture that has come out of it as well as commentary on the victims and perpetrators of colonization. Or you could just see it as a fucking awesome vampire movie!!

Holy cow. So many layers to this movie but I love what it has to say about the literal magic of music. Art is so innate to human beings and how we express ourselves, and it‘s beautiful how art can affirm its own importance.
Additionally, this movie kicks ass!

what an insane movie!! gripping story with all-time career performances from everybody and insane cinematography. and don't get me started about the music! legitimately a career highlight for everyone involved. a movie that reminds you why you love movies!
