I looooove woodpeckers, gotta be my favorite type of bird. I've unfortunately yet to see a hairy, red headed, or pileated woodpecker (the pileated being my literal moby dick because I want to see it so bad but I only ever hear it in the woods by my house) but I have seen these guys! there's a few downy couples that go to our suet feeder all the time which absolutely makes my day every time. one of those couples, a red bellied woodpecker, and a northern flicker are in my photos though

This motherfucker is LOUD.
When I first heard it, I thought someone's exotic bird had escaped but apparently they're native to much of NA. The first bird I've ever identified from its call alone! Plus it's a woodpecker.

My right arm currently has ten bird tats on it. Itβs a toss up between these two:
- The indigo bunting, which is dedicated to a friend of mine who helped me through a really bad time in my life. We bonded over birdwatching when we first met, and the indigo bunting is her favorite bird.
- The ivory-billed woodpecker, simply because itβs my favorite bird. Unfortunately extinct, though every few years a possible sighting is reported in the southern US. Its nickname is The Lord God Bird, because thatβs what a birdwatcher would shout if they ever saw one.

I was bullied a lot for my eye color as a kid (because me having very dark brown hair and very dark brown eyes made me look "evil", apparently) and, naturally, began to dislike them. but as I've gotten out of school and away from people who put me down, I've realized how insane it is to bully someone over their eye and hair color and grown to love the color of my eyes. I mean, they may be dark but there's nothing wrong with that. and I can take pretty pictures of my eyes too, I just have to blind myself and almost stare into the sun to do so lol

recently, when I wake up in the morning and have time to kill, I've been spending a bit of time reading before or after I get myself ready to go about the day instead of sitting on my phone when I first wake up. I feel like it helps clear my mind for the day and it feels nice to not immediately scroll when I wake up like I used to
