App timers is self explanatory and helps with mindfulness of passing time—even if i just stay asking for 15 more mins… Having a go-to/distraction activity when I realizing i been scrolling too long that doesn’t involve much physical or brain work like knitting 3 rows, cleaning the litter box, listening to a pre-chosen song that gets me going, thinking about how i’d decorating my future apartment. Even ones that are still on the phone but better than scrolling (with timers) like organizing my photos app or a voice memo entry of how i’m feeling. Also, when you set your screen downtime in settings the apps you deleted off your home screen literally wont show up even in search so thats helped a lot for t*ktok

In addition to what others have already suggested, I’ve had pretty good luck with creating a separate screen for apps I’m ā€allowedā€ any time while deleting or putting on a different screen/folder the apps I’m trying to limit. So for example my email, texts, notes app, DuoLingo and Kindle app are the only ones visible, encouraging me to read or write or study or catch up with friends rather than scroll infinitely on social media. That way if I’m still struggling to limit overall screen time (which I try to do by leaving my phone on the charger most of the day when possible), I feel like I’m at least making better use (for me personally) of the screen time I might be craving. šŸ˜…

Prevents me from spending an unwell amount of time on instagram and twitter. It shows you how many times you’ve tried to get on an app in the previous 24 hours and makes you do some extremely annoying task beforehand. Bonus points if you turn on front facing camera so you are forced to look at yourself every time you go to sad scroll. It is rewiring my brain to feel disgust when I click on those evil apps

limit ur screen time with (ironically) an app that locks other apps, do literally anything else in that time even if it’s 15 minutes, I got back into reading, painting and gardening
