I’m a huge fan of found footage/weird horror movies and I love LA. This movie has some beautiful shots of city streets and skies. Horror-wise, it was creepy in a real way, not just spooky demons, but listening to the camera guy get more and more unhinged and detached from reality. I liked how the story itself was very “LA” - multicultural, homeless characters, weaving through Koreatown and seeing a real, accurate depiction of what it’s like there, now, probably at this second. It’s a weird one. One of my favorite movies ever.

i have such a hard time getting through movies, its brutal and unfortunate. i am fully aware im missing out on some critical pieces of art in consequence, but if isnt both predominantly psychological thriller and as quickly paced as oppenheimer, its super hard to keep me engaged. i will talk about this movie until the end of time. despite minimal dialogue and the most clinical atmosphere to be captured by means of cinematography, the lack of information and consequential unpredictability kept me thoroughly enticed and fully unnerved for the full two hours. minimalism weaponized for max intensity with no certain direction; epitomization of surrealist thriller. watching it for the first time without context nor any expectations is an invaluable experience.

saw natural born killers last night after seeing someone recommend it here, and HOLY SHIT THIS MOVIE WAS INCREDIBLE. it was a cinematic feast with the music video style shots, the animated cuts, the black and white frames, the neon green drug store portion, and the whole sitcom sequence. genius editing and cinematography. there is clearly the entire notion of the American media glorifying serial killers and giving them so much importance that it can almost be seen as them being embraced. but i'm sure the commentary runs deeper, for which i'd need to rewatch the film, i was too focused on the abso-fucking-lutely terrific stylistic choices this time. also why tf was woody harrelson looking so hot in this geez 20/10 WOULD RECOMMEND

I’m not sure why this is rated so badly when I really enjoyed it. It’s a slow burn indie folk horror, it’s my favourite kind of horror when I don’t feel jumpy scared but a real lingering sense of dread. It’s also nice to see some gorgeous shots of Yorkshire.

I went to an incense making class earlier this year for my birthday, it’s super easy and makko powder is basically the ONLY thing you need to buy to make incense at home. It‘s pretty cheap and lasts a while, you can get it on amazon. All you need to make incense is equal parts makko powder, your dried+pulverized herbs/flowers/etc, and water (give or take on the water, use your intuition). And boom, you have incense “dough” that you can now shape into cones, dry, and burn. I’ve been making incense with what I can find around me, natives and invasive plants. It’s awesome and I totally recommend it. Making incense makes me feel like the computer energy is leaving my body. (pic is of the class incense set up)

directed by (a) safdie brother(s) (?), it’s a mini series about the oldest renaissance faire in the USA, and the self titled king that owned it, along with the property. Weird history, weird guy. (actually just passed) . If you like safdie bros. stuff, you’ll like this. Not super long.

It is so nice to take a chill moment for yourself, and it’s really hard to. I’ve never been to a studio (yet) cause I‘m broke and anxious. I like it because it doesn’t feel like a competition, not even against yourself. It’s just moving into a position and trying to chill. It’s fine if you can’t reach your arms or whatever that far, whatever feels good, whatever your body likes. Even if it’s just 10 minutes, it really makes all the difference to check in with how your body parts are feeling, including your brain. I am procrastinating my yoga right now. I like Yoga with Kassandra and Yoga with Bird on youtube. I hope at least one person gets into yoga this way with me!
