Honestly, as a fellow person who's going through a lot right now, what keeps me sane is self-reassurance and affirmations. It's a learned behavior, and I understand a lot is easier said than done. But ultimately you will always have yourself, so you need to be patient and kind to your mind. Treat yourself as you would a good friend or family member. Again, it's easier said than done, but practice makes perfect, I promise you that. Take it one day at a time. Believe that everything happens for a reason. Even if things look bleak, a door always closes for another to open. If you feel isolated, finding someone you trust and reaching out to them for consolation can be cathartic, whether it be a human or a pet. If all else fails, Lexapro is pretty damn good, too.

If it were easy to change, you would’ve changed already. Seeing a supportive psychologist will be a big help.
Know that you can change, even ifyour mind won’t believe it. It can be little by little, and up and down, but you are capable of changing.
There are many things to try, and your psychologist knows them better than I.

Thought my eyes were bugging out from being on here for so long but it appears they did not deceive me.

Yeah, humidity sucks. Grass growing faster and having to mow it isn’t much fun, either. But there’s something about the sky turning black at noon—even if the horizon in the opposite direction is still a crisp blue—while it rains bullets makes me feel alive. I don’t like summer unless it’s storming, in which it instantly becomes mesmerizing. Instead of wanting to be inside all day, a summer storm makes me want to go outside and enjoy the weather, ironically. Even if the air is thick with intense Midwest heat, a summer storm feels like some kind of relief from the awful temperatures. I’m still not quite sure how to word my feelings for the catharsis I feel during a summer storm, but wow I sure do love them.
