I first learned about Women's History Museum around the time I moved to New York and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I have vivid memories of being fresh to NYC and seeing a performance/fashion show of theirs at the Ukrainian National Home in the East Village and being blown away by the world they’ve created. Mattie and Amanda are true icons!

I’ve been going to this museum ever since I moved to New York. It’s a perfect hidden gem for any history nerds who want a slightly less crowded museum experience on the upper east side. The permanent collection is thorough but not overwhelming and you can get through it in a few hours (I personally hate being in huge museums where I get stressed by the amount of rooms/options). And despite being a history museum, it offers a modern and interactive experience and isn’t dusty!!

The Museum of Modern Art is my all time favorite museum in the city and has been for as long as I can remember. That says a lot & holds a lot of weight because I’ve been going there and admiring it all since I was about 12 years old. I’d been a part of an extracurricular program for children with disabilities where I was there as a kid to immerse myself in all the different types of art that they had to offer. This was immeasurable for me as a young artist, and a disabled artist at that. That experience was my introduction to the MoMA, and since then I’d been hooked - for lack of better words. As a now 21 going on 22-year-old (by the time this comes out I’ll be 22), it is in my opinion, the most communal of all the museums in the city. You can be ratchet and free with your friends within the walls of the MoMA and enjoy and learn about any type of art or anything related to art there, and that’s literally just what is - you just kind of lose yourself there til doors close at 5:30.

I haven't been to too many museums, spending the most time at the MET probably.. but I visited this one in Yonkers while visiting a friend. The exhibits were super well curated. There was a beautiful room with clothing related pieces and this absolutely insane room-wide work that was like a sort of life sized diorama (see link). The parts from Felix Gonzalez Torres messed me up bad but fortunately they were some of the last bits we looked at (emoji related).. She (the friend) also has a weird way of bringing out the best of me regarding this sort of thing, so I was really in a mindset to appreciate everything. It's a great museum that is deeply loved by the people who work there, strongly recommend if you ever find yourself boating up the Hudson.

It adds mystique. We played a show at Market Hotel recently and I wore a pair during the performance and just putting them on helped me get into the zone. Added bonus: no one knows who you’re looking at.
