the story "follows three Canadian college students visiting New York City for a spring break trip in 2009."
β some brilliant panel design
β extremely carefully observed, both visually (very studied posing and [god this makes me feel old] era-appropriate details, along with really lovely use of soft shapes and clean lines)
and also emotionally and behaviorally.
these character feel real and notably flawed, without feeling tired and overdrawn, if that makes sense
a really engaging read, easily read it all in one sitting. i will note that your mileage with 'roaming' will likely be dependent on if you can "relate" to the characters and scenarios of the story, simply because it is such a humble and concentrated small-scale story. personally, sometimes i did relate sometimes i really didn't and i could see that impacting my relationship to the book in real time.
