I often think about how sobering it is to be fully present to a given moment. theres an awakening that happens inside of myself when I sit still and breathe and listen to the world around me.

I love those moments when you focus on your breath for a couple of seconds, and the world comes into focus. Like you're present where you are for the first time.
Makes me feel so calm.
I do wonder though, is this what it was like all the time for the generations before phones? If so, damn... I'm jealous

I feel like every year I burrow further into life, everything accelerates faster and faster, becoming more complex and confusing (and sometimes feeling so dark and serious). I feel like I’m always playing catch up with things that have happened, processing them weeks to months to years after they’ve occurred, or only fully appreciating a moment long after it’s passed. My best art and thinking has been when i was alone in the middle of the night , with no noise or anything around to distract me.I’ve been really into sitting and marinating in a quiet moment (going on a hike, looking out my apartment window in silence at night, journaling, reading an engrossing book, drawing) and attempting to detach myself from the small details and my day to day worries.

I wish I could speak every language to converse with everyone around the world! There’s something tantalizing about having this ability. Perhaps because deep conversations are a doorway into someone‘s upbringing and people’s cultures, and there is so much joy in hearing someone‘s story. In another lifetime, surely I was a polyglot enjoying company from people all around the world!
